PROJECT UPDATE 3.22.2022

Crews continue their work on the 2019 bond projects at various Channelview ISD facilities. The renovations to the maintenance and transportation facility are nearing completion. New plumbing has been installed for the new mop sink and the concrete has been poured. IN addition, the walls have been painted and ceiling tiles have been replaced and installed. Construction on the new 2019 bond projects continues with many projects complete and the new McGhee Elementary well underway. The additions and renovations to Channelview High School are complete and students are using the new Career and Technical Education facility and new Performing Arts Center. PROJECT UPDATE 11. 17.2021

The 2019 Bond project is well underway with several projects already complete. A community tour was offered to parents, students, staff and community members to allow them to visit the new Career and Technology Education and Fine Arts wing of Channelview High School. There was also a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Channelview ISD Board of Trustees, directors, school principal, and assistant superintendents. Read the full update here.

PROJECT UPDATE 10.20.2021

The 2019 Bond project continues moving rapidly. Several projects are nearing completion, including Channelview High School. The community will be invited to attend a tour of the upgrades made to the high school which include the new Career and Technical Education facility, Fine Arts Center and library. PROJECT UPDATE 9.22.2021

Classes are well underway and students have been able to take advantage of the new renovations to their schools. Every Channelview ISD campus will receive upgrades thanks to the 2019 Bond project. The new Career and Technical Education (CTE) facility is being used by students. Students are already using the new welding room, robotics center and culinary arts kitchen for hands-on learning. PROJECT UPDATE 8.19.2021

Classes begin at the end of August and many students will be walking into campuses with renovations and additions. Crews worked all summer in Channelview High School, Alice Johnson Junior High, McGhee, Crenshaw, Brown, Hamblen and McMullan Elementary. Channelview High School renovations are nearing completion. Despite some heavy rain this month, crews made significant progress on several of the 2019 Bond projects. They are working on renovations taking place at Channelview High School, Alice Johnson Junior High, McGhee, Crenshaw, Brown, Hamblen and McMullan Elementaries. “We have never had this many schools being renovated at one time,” said Superintendent Greg Ollis. “It’s truly an exciting time for our district and I know this will be a busy summer for construction crews.” Read the full update here.

The 2019 Bond work continues to move forward rapidly. Crews working on renovations taking place at Channelview High School, Alice Johnson Junior High, and the newly named McGhee Elementary (formerly Cobb-Schochler Elementary). The main entrance to Channelview High School continues to be worked on. Crews are currently working on the new high school connection into the Kolarik 9th Grade Center. Read full update here.

Significant progress has been made to the new Cobb-Schochler Elementary site. Mats have been laid at the entrance of the site for access and much of the site has been cleared. The contractor continues shredding old trees and removing them from the site. In addition, the workers have also added a small office on site and a larger trailer for employees will be added at a later date. Read the full update here.

Several campuses are now being renovated thanks to the 2019 Bond that was approved by the Channelview voters. The Channelview High School baseball and softball fields are complete and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held in early March to officially open the fields for student athletes. The 2019 Bond projects continue to move forward with several upgrades being completed and new ones beginning.  The Channelview High School  baseball and softball fields are complete and a ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled in early March.  The remainder of the high school athletic facilities are nearing completion. Construction crews have installed plumbing fixtures, stainless steel furniture and a canopy to the new track concession stand. Read full update here.

PROJECT UPDATE 1.21.2021

The new year brings with it many updates to the 2019 Bond projects. The final touches are being added to the new Channelview High School athletic facilities. The netting has been installed in the batting cages, and the security fence has been added to enclose the athletic complex. Additional installations include: the light poles, speakers and cameras in the press box, and turf in the bullpens. Read the full update here.

As the 2020 year comes to a close, construction on the 2019 Bond projects continue and crews will work during the holiday break. The renovations being made to Channelview High School athletic facilities are nearing completion. The turf is complete on both fields and a fence was installed to enclose the batting cages. Concrete has been poured on the new 1,000 seat auditorium’s floor and the electrical work continues. Read the full update here.

There has been substantial progress made this month on the 2019 Bond projects. The renovations being made to Channelview High School athletics facilities are continuing with the projects nearing completion. The bleachers for the softball and baseball fields have been installed. The softball turf is complete, and the baseball turf has just begun, and the batting cages turf will follow. Read the full update here.

Construction on the 2019 Bond projects continues with significant progress being made on the district athletic facilities. Early this month, the nets for the Channelview High School tennis courts were installed and the  concrete for the sidewalk was poured. The tennis courts are now complete and students will begin using the courts on April 5, 2021. Construction continues on the softball and baseball fields and their concessions stands, with completion at 80 percent.  Read the full update here.

Classes for Channelview ISD are in full swing. All students are attending classes virtually for the next few weeks. The school year looks very different. Fortunately it has not slowed down construction on the 2019 Bond projects.

The beginning of the school year is quickly approaching and construction on the 2019 Bond has not slowed down. The new parking lot at Anthony Aguirre Junior High is complete, including meeting the ADA (American Disabilities Act) guidelines by including handicap spots and striping an accessible pathway to the campus. A sidewalk in front of the campus was also completed making it safer for pedestrians to walk to school. Read full update here.

Construction on the 2019 Bond is steadily progressing with several projects headed to the next phase. Brown, Crenshaw, Hamblen, McMullan, and Cobb Schochler Scho ols are currently wrapping up the design phase of their projects. In this phase, each project’s scope is realized with input from teachers and others who will be utilizing the space. Members of the design committees met in July to discuss color schemes/pallets, new carpet, signage, and additional campus improvements. Read the full update here.

Channelview ISD district leaders remain committed to fulfilling the 2019 Bond promise to our students, staff, parents, community and stakeholders. The district is currently on schedule with completing the projects promised to taxpayers. Progress continues with planning, designing, new construction and renovations to existing schools. PROJECT UPDATE 01.14.20

2019 was both an exciting and crucial year for Channelview ISD as we closed out on a decade of hard work and made preparations to be even more successful in the new decade. After voters approved the bond proposal in May, the district quickly began the multiphase process of planning, designing, and constructing replacement schools, renovations and additions to existing schools, and other essential projects. PROJECT UPDATE 07.30.19

Initial Design Charrettes are held at the start of each project. They serve as opportunities for the design professionals - architects, planners, interior and main designers, and more - to hear from the district on the needs and expectations for that project. Channelview High School’s 4-day charrette brought teachers from all disciplines, principals, SROs, and other staff together to act as ambassadors for the students. Their goal was to assess needs and brainstorm potential solutions alongside the design team. Take a look at a brief overview of the work they accomplished here.

“The district has formed design committees comprised of teachers, administrators, directors, superintendents, and board members to assist the architects and design consultants in the planning and design of the May 2019 Bond projects. Each committee will be led through a series of design-focused meetings to define the purpose, needs, and spaces desired for each facility. DeZavala Elementary Replacement School and Channelview High School Additions and Renovations have been the first projects to begin. The district is also in the process of selecting contractors...”
